Katie Songer
Katie Songer grew up on mixed family farm near Rocky Mountain House. She is the third generation of her family to raise cattle in central Alberta and has been involved in the beef industry for over 30 years, with a focus on seed stock production. A recognized figure on the beef show circuit, Katie has judged almost every major show in Canada, alongside numerous regional and junior events, and bred numerous champions spanning the country.
Outside of the farm gate, Katie is an accomplished creative strategist, photographer, and videographer. As a creative strategist, she is recognized for delivering conceptually focused solutions that engage and motivate, leading to collaborations with organizations such as the Canadian Roundtable for Sustainable Beef, the Canadian Cattle Association, the Canadian Beef Industry Conference, and nearly every major beef breed association in Canada. As a freelancer, she founded a national publication that garnered multiple awards during its tenure and served as the cornerstone for a media company that photographed some of the most valuable purebred cattle across Canada, the United States, and Mexico.
Having previously chaired the Calgary Stampede Youth Livestock Committee, earned recognition as a Cattlemen’s Young Leader, and represented Canada at the International Beef Alliance in Brazil, Katie is a lifelong fan of agriculture. Her schooling included a Bachelor of Design (Visual Communications) at the Alberta University for the Arts (Alberta College of Art and Design), and a film production diploma from Toronto Film School.
