Suicide Awareness and Prevention
Now booking!
Recent Canadian research confirms that 1 in 4 farmers have had thoughts of suicide in 2021, much higher than in the general Canadian population. Farmers are believed to be at high risk for suicide because of isolated working conditions, access to lethal means, high levels of financial risk and uncertainty, seasonality of work, and lack of access to support.
The topic of suicide has become more common in both our personal and professional lives with the added risk factors due to COVID-19. Adults, youth, employees, rural and urban workers and their families may be struggling.
AgKnow has partnered with Abridge Consulting to create two customized suicide awareness and prevention workshops for Alberta’s agriculture industry.
These workshops can be delivered in person or virtually by trained AgKnow facilitators and will be offered on a fee-for-service basis beginning in the fall of 2023. Sign up to get on our waitlist to host an event for your community, business or association by filling out the form below. Requests will be added to a waiting list and delivered in the order received.
