I own a small farm just southwest of Calgary and am living out my childhood dream of raising all the animals in Charlotte’s Web. I grew up working on different farms just to afford my wild (and probably dangerous) ex-racehorse, then put myself through university by coaching and training young horses. From my experience caring for a variety of animals and working in multiple agriculture industries, I understand the unique stressors associated with farming; such as: unpredictable weather, sick livestock, financial uncertainty and family histories tied to the land and community.
I support farmers facing challenges such as transition planning, depopulation, suicide, financial stress and farm family dynamics. Through my experience with the Public Guardian and Trustee, I’ve worked closely with aging populations and have significant insight into succession planning, multigenerational farm dynamics and the importance of strong Personal Directives and Wills.
As a Canadian Certified Counsellor and a Provisional Psychologist, I offer a practical, client-centered approach that fits the unique needs of farmers and rural communities. I have extensive training in trauma, Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Somatic Experience therapy (SE) and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT). I also offer “In The Know” training, which is a mental health program specifically designed for farmers to help recognize and address: anxiety, depression, trauma, substance use and suicide.
