I grew up immersed on my family’s dairy farm that later transitioned into a mixed farming operation. Today, my husband and I have our own farm, the Rafter U7 Ranch, where we run a commercial cow-calf operation near Carstairs, Alberta. I’m actively involved in rodeo and love attending barrel racing jackpots. Our children are in the 4-H beef club, and I’m proud to see them carrying on our family’s agricultural traditions.
I bring my passion for agriculture into my practice as a Clinical Social Worker and equine-facilitated Counsellor. I own and operate “Heard Wellness Through Horses” from Rafter U7 Ranch and Wellness Centre where I offer equine therapy, virtual sessions and in-office counselling.
With a Master of Social Work degree and 15+ years experience in mental health, I specialize in trauma-focused interventions, including Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing therapy (EMDR) and Equine Therapy.
My approach has been described as soft yet direct—as I try to create a space where people feel safe, heard and supported. I have been told I am an incredible listener and that people feel safe with me.
My primary area of expertise is working with farm women, from young to retired, although I also work with male farmers and ranchers. I support clients navigating suicide, anxiety, depression and farm family dynamics because I truly understand the unique challenges of an Ag life. I’ve been featured on Frontline Farming Canada’s “Mental Health Minute”, and am passionate about serving our rural community. If you’d like to connect, feel free to reach out by phone or email. I look forward to supporting you on your journey
