Deanna Hood
RESEARCH ASSISTANT BIO
My name is Deanna Hood, and I am a recent graduate from the University of Alberta, Augustana, where I completed my BA in Psychology. I was raised on a small farm in Sturgeon County, near Gibbons, Alberta.
I am very interested in this research as I want to work towards implementing mental health awareness and support options for individuals and their communities. Growing up in rural Alberta and participating in the runnings of farm operations, I understand the importance of bringing these supports to farmers and members of rural communities. This research allows me the opportunity to explore this need further and use my life experiences to aid advancements in providing support to farmers and rural communities.
My future aspirations involve gaining experience assisting communities in their mental health efforts. One day I hope to complete my Masters in Counseling Psychology to further my career in mental health.
CURRENT RESEARCH WORK
Deanna is working on developing the Farm Culture Course with Dr. Rebecca Purc-Stephenson.
