JUDE KEEHN
RESEARCH ASSISTANT BIO
My name’s Jude Elliot Keehn (he/him). I graduated last year from the University of Alberta, Augustana Campus, with a BA in psychology. I was born and raised in Edmonton, Alberta (amiskwacîwâskahikan ᐊᒥᐢᑿᒌᐚᐢᑲᐦᐃᑲᐣ Treaty 6 Territory). While I don’t have any family background in agriculture, my grandma grew up on a farm outside Two Hills, Alberta. Hearing her stories, and those from friends I made throughout my time at Augustana, has given me a great appreciation and deep respect for those who live rural and/or farming lifestyles.
I’m passionate about improving mental health support for diverse and marginalized communities, and working to reduce the stigma of mental health-related concerns. I plan to pursue a Masters or PhD in clinical or counselling psychology. I am so excited and honoured to be a part of this team and can’t wait to see the positive changes to come out of this research. In working with AgKnow, I hope to deepen my understanding of the unique challenges Alberta farmers face, and strive to help build a broader network and community in which mental health support can be accessed by all, without barriers or stigma.
CURRENT RESEARCH WORK
Jude is working on the Farm Animal Epidemic and Depopulation Study.
